Red Reef Laboratories’ products and its implementation of a progressive development plan establish a variety of safe bio-decontaminants that kill bacteria, viruses, spores, mold and fungi while being uniquely benign to humans and animals or the environment.
Red Reef Laboratories’ development and business model is based on its experience in advanced surfactant design and the blending of carrier-surfactants with suitable active chemicals and herbal compounds in an effort to cover a great variety of strategic biocidal applications.
Recent theoretical and experimental studies of amphiphilic lyotropic formations explain some fundamentals surrounding surfactants and lipid self-assemblies, providing an explanation how these substances act in killing bacteria and viruses. Membrane-forming lipids found in active biological systems can form intermediate mesh structures that are vulnerable to surface tension changes. This model shows that punctures or cracking of the outer membranes of bacteria and/or viruses will prevent any further biological activity. Surface-active molecules in our formulations, surfactants, are such a class of molecules exhibiting a strong tendency to adsorb at interfaces. They are characterized by the presence of both polar (hydrophilic) and non-polar (hydrophobic) moieties, thereby enabling a wide spectrum of applications.
These surfactant are used to: Improve wetting / spreading of compounds Couple or compatibilize formulation components Act as delivery system carrying active compounds Provide detergency by solubilizing and suspending soils (particulate) Produce, modify or control foam Emulsify / disperse oily substances Modify viscosity
We have combined the unique properties of our surfactants with various anti-microbial components and have achieved impressive results. When compared to benchmark targets, our products indicate an accelerated sterilizing action. This allows for a reduced dwell or contact time and requires less of a concentration of active components necessary for desired results.
